Digital Photography or Film?

Digital Photography or Film
"Have you digitalized?" After losing the number of people asking, I keep wondering why this is such a question. The camera is a tool in which only a photographer creates images. The ability to create a unique image remains the same.

For many types of photographs, digital has long had obvious advantages, but the resolution required to make larger prints for landscapes was not available. But things have changed, and digital cameras are becoming tools used by most professionals.

Modern digital cameras can perfectly match the 35mm film, the format that most landscape photographers begin. But can they really match large format film cameras? This is probably the biggest question that all photographers face.

Instant LCD feedback is the digital's greatest gift, which allows the photographer to check the exposure and composition of their images in the blink of an eye. While this is a great advantage, the hours spent in front of the computer to process raw images must be an obstacle. Landscape photographers' best time is spent behind a camera that is not in front of the computer.

The pros and cons of digital photography will continue to be a problem for a while. At the end of the day, a digital camera will not improve the images of photographers. The same values we apply in our photography, no matter which camera we use.

Good photography is difficult and attractive as usual; switching to digital does not change this or make it easier to get good images. It brings technical advantages and plenty, but most photographic techniques never change. Good landscape images come from the photographer's personal ability, not from the camera's ability. The camera helps, but the creative eye remains the same.

As a landscape photographer, I am not afraid to adopt all the qualities digital has brought to other professionals in different photography areas.

There are several simple reasons why I still use a film camera:
The originality of my pictures can be questioned if I use a digital camera. It is often assumed that great digital images are manipulated.
A lot of time is spent in front of a computer.
Slide film produces stronger colors than a digital camera.

Switching to digital has many advantages, but I will stick to the film; for now. Film cameras will be a thing of the past over time and all of our images will be exchanged with pixels. But be careful - believing that our business will be superior will be a big trap. Size is important to me, I can print a larger image better.
